Some updates.
I have been quite sick for the past 10 days, which led at one point to becoming delirious from a combination of fever, dehydration, and salt imbalance from puking etc. Because of the nature of delirium, I was the last to know. Rumors were flying because I initially continued “going through the motions,” such as by tweeting, and I was not in a state to address these unverified rumors or otherwise give an update until I had recovered. I’m not 100% yet still. Despite the rumors, I am happy that there is no evidence that Joy Reid’s homophobic hackers got past two-factor authentication. Other rumored explanations I will now dispel include margaritaville (no), my autism (not relevant here), and my favorite, the theory that it was all part of a far-right plot to defy Pope Francis (thanks to Benjamin Boyce for sending me this).
Thank you especially to Canım Benim, my girlfriend in Canada who goes to the other school, who I am pretty sure did not sleep for several days to keep checking on me at all hours and ultimately persuaded me to seek medical attention for the symptoms I was experiencing. I’m also grateful to several other people who reached out or otherwise sought to help. Please understand if we had a confusing interaction within the last 10 days, or you felt like my tweets seemed off, it was most likely due to the fact that I was having this medical illness, and I do regret having worried you.
Some other updates:
I have a new article out in American Mind called “Genital Mutilation for the Masses.” FWIW, my suggested title was “Surgical Simulacra for the Unitiated” and I did not suggest the line about “gory details.” When you sell articles to an online magazine, they will typically change the title and include their own teaser text. But for the record, penis origami is a gory mutilation.
This article is an intro to just some of the gender affirming surgeries your parents’ Obamacare insurance can buy. It was getting quite long so the scope for this installment is restricted to “bottom surgeries.” Dr. Jordan Peterson tweeted it out. Big moment for me since downloading the cursed clock app to make videos was initially inspired by one of his lectures on the reasons for the sexual wage gap (women choosing industries/professions/income generation strategies which do not scale well). I really appreciate his work.
I was also recently interviewed about the backlash from SF Chronicle/MSNBC over the SF GOP’s Parental Rights Night. Unfortunately despite a week of trying, Streamyard was not able to sort out my signal (the app reported a connection issue during filming, so I was not surprised) so portions of this interview are audio only. For more information on the Soleil saga, please see my videos Soleil Gibran and Cirque duh Soleil. Thank you to CharLee Simons at Do Not Talk on Rumble for platforming us to discuss this.
Right before I fell ill, I also saw an excellent panel discussion comprised of Amy Sousa, Benjamin Boyce, and Chloe Cole discussing the subjects of gender and detransition. It was nice to just be an audience member for once. There was a great turnout of (my rough estimate) about 50 people, and the seemingly endless cookie bar. I’m sure Soleil Ho would have had lots to say about the beige color of the French Palmiers, which were the standout for me. The event was hosted by Jennifer Lahl and The Center for Bioethics and Culture Network, and it was called “Breaking the Narrative on Gender Ideology.” It was recorded and is now on Youtube at that link.
one of the worst things about these current times is the sudden feeling of dread when you realise you haven't heard from a treasured voice in a little while... glad you're ok. thanks for the update.
I'm so glad you're ok and healing! Keep resting and get well soon!
