The Dead Names: Kathleen "Myles" Fitzpatrick, FTM, Dead at 17
She's alleged to be a victim of her own school-based gender affirmation. Text write-up.
Kathleen Fitzpatrick was a normal teenage girl heading into the COVID-19 pandemic. As school went into lockdown and remote learning, 15 year old Kathleen had a revelation: she was supposed to have been born a boy.
The following year, when she returned to school, she declared her male gender identity. In response, her school initially allowed her to use a single-stall third option to change, which reasonably accommodated her mental illness without infringing on anyone's right to a single-sex facility. Although Kathleen was now going by Myles, it appears she did not legally change her name, based on the wrongful death lawsuit filed in the name of the estate of Kathleen Fitzpatrick.
For reasons unknown, at some point, Kathleen’s reasonable accommodation of a third-option single-sex facility was revoked. Kathleen then began to use the male lockers, despite the fact that she was female. She reported severe bullying by the male students in the male locker rooms, but the bullying did not inspire her return to the female locker rooms. Her mother requested that she return to remote learning, rather than simply demand that the school protect her daughter from a sexually hostile environment caused by mixed sex changing facilities. That was also denied for some reason.
Her mother was reportedly unable to get the school to stop forcing her minor daughter to disrobe in front of males and was also not able to withdraw her from the school. Throughout this time, it seems everyone was aware that Kathleen was actively self-harming, either by witnessing it directly, or seeing blood stains on her shirt sleeves. Yet other than affirm her that she was in fact supposed to be something she could never be, a boy, it appears they did little to help her, and instead subjected her to routine sexual humiliation the likes of which she could not have imagined as a young girl. This abuse was carried out in the name of gender affirmation. I can only imagine how confused, trapped, and ashamed she must have felt.
On November 7, 2022, Kathleen killed herself. She was 17.
This is an example of a case where all of the adults in this child’s life prioritized the big lie over protecting a minor girl with underlying mental health conditions and dangerous self-harming behaviors. Social affirmation of the gender delusion was supposed to prevent her suicide. Instead, it facilitated it, by creating a great deal of avoidable trauma for a young person already struggling to cope with the basic facts of her life circumstances. We have to say “no” to the groundless claim these practices prevent suicide. There's no proof of that.
She was NOT 'forced' to change in the male locker room. She CHOSE to. The school should have let her continue with the previous arrangement, but if it was inconveniencing the school nurse or the staff then she could easily have used the female locker room. Her mother should have insisted that she did. Her mother is just as culpable as the school. She should have told her daughter that 'boys' who have female bodies can undress in the female changing rooms.
Who the hell decided that young girls can undress in front of boys anyway? Humiliating yourself for the affirmation is really not worth it.
Boys are entitled to privacy when undressing, just the same as girls. Does she think there aren't any shy boys? It's sexist not to allow boys the same privacy rights as girls.
Boys don't like girls in their private spaces any more than girls like boys in theirs. Is anybody surprised by this?
