Do you happen to know how anemia affects exercise/muscle growth? I've been really struggling with exercise and major fatigue. I will probably have to do iron infusions, as we haven't been able to fix the anemia issue. I used to be really into weight training and exercise but just haven't been able to lately, I think because of my anemia.

Just curious if you know anything about this, as you seem quite knowledgeable, and I'd love to improve my fitness again.

You should look into fast acceptance on tik tok and make reactions !! I would love to hear it, the fact acceptance community are out of their minds, and pretty similar to trans community.

I'd make a recommendation for a YT rabbit hole but she doesn't need anymore victims, lol.

Bodies respond hormonally to what we eat, so I keep carbohydrates low. I also don’t like to hop around or whatever more than I need to, and the only weight-bearing exercise I ever liked was the kettlebell, as it’s more like actual work. Maybe I should take it up again. Thanks for the encouragement!

Right on!! I love those shows you mention! I also watched every episode of Fat Doctor. I watch 2 YouTube channels by men who were over 600 lbs before weight loss surgery, and now they do reactions to Dr. Now and other shows.

I was obese almost 30 years ago, and I lost it all and became a runner over the course of a few years. I'm running a half marathon in NYC next month, 10 days after I turn 59. I'm up about 20 lbs, from stress eating during the Covid insanity.

I don't enjoy lifting weights, but I am a massage therapist, and that creates/requires upper body strength.

I look forward to your posts!

I was a fitness coach in a previous career. Women can have very unrealistic expections about where the fat will come off, how much will come off, and how much work it will take to remove it. I leave the feminist analysis to women. My training analysis is that getting up to stretch and walk around every day is the single most powerful thing you can do for your health. I always advised limited gym time. Get in, do your sets, get out.

Yes Exulansic I’m so excited for this content! I have been wanting to improve my strength and overall health because at 22 I am already noticing pain where there should not be pain (back, knees etc) as a result of all the computer work I do. My legs are extremely weak and tight, especially my IT band. I am terrified of dislocating my knees because they feel weak: squats with just my body weight are quite painful for my knees for some reason. Anyhow, can’t wait for this next video and when you address squats could you talk about how to prevent injury in knees? Thank you!

Fat accrual is not quite random, semi predictable by cause and sex. There's the "classic" signs of insulin resistant diabetes, central adiposity and high visceral vs subcutanteous fat which are predictable enough to use in hypothesis if not diagnosis. Men get under the abdominal wall, women tend to pile it up in other places above the fascia. And in men since it stores/boosts estrogen overall you then start getting moobs vs just beer gut eventually but not at first. I think it's super interesting that if you're bed bound or sit a lot you won't be able to grow the same fat stores where places have continual pressure as those that don't. I wonder what mechanism in the body reacts to that stimuli.

lol weights are totally cardio, you got your cardio. Any amount of weight to feel it in one rep and then sets of max rep will get anybody's heart rate up. I'd kill for a real rower though.

I recently bought a Pilates Reformer.

Classes get really expensive.

Getting on that now while I catch up on the content I've fallen behind on. 👍

Looking forward to this, you might just kick me into much-needed action! The human body is an amazingly well constructed machine, we need to look after it and teach kids to value what they have.

I could probably use some help with this. I do an hour of cardio about five times a week and not only do I dread it, it does nothing to build muscle. I will never build stamina because my heart muscle has been too damaged but I know I will benefit from listening to what you have to say about this subject.

The whole situation is equal parts scary and frustrating. I need the exercise to live but I have to be careful and I have to accept that no matter how much exercise I do, it is not likely to bring about the kinds of improvements healthy people experience. I'm treading water and that is probably the best I can hope for.

Moral of the story? Do all you can to avoid serious heart disease. Once the damage is done, more often than not it can not be undone.

I'm a bit addicted to Dr. Now episodes. They can be pretty exploitative and sad, but I genuinely watch them because I want to see people get better and stop being immobile and bedridden. I've never been overweight, but I can totally see how an anxiety spiral would trap you in a dissociative state where you try to forget and self soothe by eating.

But my next bulk up will definitely happen well after this pregnancy. Going to the gym is really satisfying.

I'm starting this journey but for gaining mass not for losing weight. Im overcoming an Ed and eating and feeling ok with how it all goes on is a big factor. I want to be healthy-bigger not just bigger. I wish you all the best!

I was lifting heavy and seriously for several years and incredibly fit and active. Healthiest I’ve ever been. Sadly developed a drinking problem at the end of my first marriage and quit working out and gained over 100 pounds. Quit drinking two years ago and I lost 70 pounds just cutting out alcohol. Getting my life back on track but fitness is still a struggle. I miss weightless though and feeling so strong and healthy and energetic. So glad to see you talking about this and maybe it will help motivate me to get back on track.
