Response to Puberty Blocker Debate, Part 5

Alec the nurse talks about his time in medical school.

Here is a hierarchy of evidence. Alec’s evidence at best is observational surveys or anecdotes. Some of the evidence I’ve looked at in the glitterature review series will even rise to the level of a case-controlled trials. But without randomization, you cannot reject the null hypothesis, because you cannot be certain the groups were actually the same prior to the intervention being used. Therefore, you cannot claim causation has been demonstrated. You cannot conclude that the intervention is responsible for any measured difference at the end of the study period. The two groups may have been different from the start, because you did not randomly assign participants to this or that group.

Given Alec’s inability to cope with the fact that he’s wrong and I can demonstrate it, and his resulting inappropriate outburst targeting not just me, but my family member, I am taking a break from responding to this debate, though I do plan to eventually come back to it as the mermaid exchange at the end was hilarious. In the meantime, if you know anyone with a fully matured prefrontal cortex who would like to debate this issue with me from an opposing point of view, I would be happy to.
