Planned Parenthood Keystone Bans Woman For Adult Human Female Shirt, "Offensive Conversations"
"Care. No matter what." Unless you express "anti-trans and transphobic rhetoric and symbols." Then no more planning parenthood for you!
A Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania has banned a disabled women with gender critical views who had received regular medical treatments at this location for the last decade, after anonymous staff members and a more anonymous patient allegedly filed numerous secret complaints, according to a letter she says she received from PPFA Keystone.
According to the letter, the ban became effective April 11, 2024. Based on a video she sent me, her account has been disabled from making new appointments at that location only. She's being directed by the site to locations over 100 miles away.
She says this location canceled her existing appointment. She received no warning or notice of these complaints prior to being dropped as a patient. It would be a hardship to travel to a new location, and the unexpected disruption in her continuity of care may have lasting health consequences.
She suspects these shirts were the issue. She says they made no attempt to accommodate her differing belief system or inform her of a general policy against discussing beliefs in the waiting area or wearing clothing with ideological slogans or definitions. She also says they never offered her a hospital gown to wear or an alternate area to wait in, or make other reasonable efforts to communicate with a person they knew had a disability and perceived to have certain beliefs.Â
She claims they have not told her what she said that went against this policy or where she can find this policy. She said a staff member wore branded items that said things like "smash the binary" referring to gender binary. I attempted to track down a written dress code on their website, and was directed to an article about condoms.
At this time she's looking for advice as she wants to explore legal options. In my view she's being discriminated against on the basis of her beliefs and her disability, but I'm not an attorney. She also wants to bring attention to this story. But she fears retaliation, of course. Advice and suggestions are welcome.
she's being discriminated against on the basis of 1/ belief and 2/ sex. SEX.
