It IS a weird conversation to have with your parents, and this totally dysfunctional family if full of this hyper-sexualized evil. I kept thinking too, what is it like to have your first (?) date (?) filmed, and your possible first (?) romantic (?) kiss filmed, then to have to go to your parents and tell them all about it -- while being filmed?! The whole thing is such a sickening mess.
Wow, look what mom has done to her son. Jaron is not comfortable in social situations at all, it seems all performance. Late bloomer omg Jeanette is delusional she has denied her son his birthright. Marcia bowers is a mengele psychopathic surgeon, he has ruined this child's body, shame on him. I'm sad for Jaron cos now they talked about pjmping him out, jhc these people need jailing
It doesn't but there are still more flattering colours and less shiny materials. It's like they go out of their way to choose the worst things for him.
My late Mother said of people like that that their taste was all in their mouths. Kinda goes along with Mommie Dearest's friend talking about Jazz "slutting it up." W.T.F.
"...their taste was all in their mouths..." Love it! Also, yeah, that comment from the friend was brutal. Seems like everyone on that show is cruel to Jazz, even when Jazz isn't present. Poor kid never had a chance to be happy.
I think shiny and bright pastel indicate a happy feminine vibe. They think more about showing off FEMININE than choosing clothes appropriate to Jazz. Jazz looks very attractive to me if I focus on his face. I wonder what he would have been like if he had grown up without transitioning.
He gets to choose very little in his life if anything so it is unlikely he is allowed to choose his clothing but if he is choosing it himself if people around him cared about him they would tell him when he is wearing something unflattering or unsuitable but they don't.
he's already going through so much...do we really need to rip into this barely-adult person's taste? He's figuring out what he likes. This just seems excessive and cruel. There's no need to tear his fashion choices apart. This doesn't sound like people who are concerned about the well-being of a child; it sounds like a bunch of really mean old women who have nothing better to do.
and before you come for me—I've been following Exulansic *religiously* since she had less than 1k followers. I'm a hardcore fan of her work, and I believe she is correct both logically and emotionally. So, I'm not a troll, I'm not a TRA, I'm not an SJW, I just wanna stick to the point.
Which is: we don't have to be unnecessarily cruel to a young adult whose life is already falling apart, and basically always has been. We should offer kindness, compassion, understanding, and love. We won't reach anyone by acting like children, and we definitely won't get anyone to listen to us if we keep giving TERF a bad name. I.e. by literally bullying jazz behind his back.
sorry. but I said what I said and I will always stand behind it. I've even told Sierra herself that I thought she was a little bit meaner than she needed to be; it opened up an email dialogue between us, and she's actually stopped poking so much fun. Take the example and follow suit love <3
This long message is just another way of telling women to 'be kind'. Most if not all of the messages have been blunt but have also expressed sadness for Jazz and anger at the way his family treat him. No one here is bullying him.
The show has a costumer, designer and dresser. He's dressing the way the show wants him to dress. So is his mother.
Nothing in this show is accidental, it's all planned, set up, produced and scripted. That is true of every TV show and movie you have ever watched. You don't have to believe me, go to IMDB and look up the crew credits.
isn't it to accentuate the 'florida resort life style look' with light fluffy ruffly colors, tunic big-belly/hips coverup on mom, revealing femme outfits on Jazz' two trans friends. Jazz' father looking wrinkly and drab and long faced. because I can tell you that Jazz probably doesn't dress like that up at Harvard.
Imdb doesn't list a costume designer for I Am Jazz. Reality show casts usually wear their own clothes and makeup. Jazz seems to pick out his own clothes based on a mermaid theme that started in childhood. I'm sure Jeanette either came up with it herself to further her transgender storyline (see! Jazz IS a trans girl because she Identifies with mermaids like all trans kids do!), or Jazz was drawn to this esthetic because mommy approved and encouraged it. In early seasons the mermaid theme was big--Jazz even made a mermaid tale and swam in the family pool for a photo shoot. I believe he just stuck with it because he never went through puberty and is still a 10 year old in many ways. I remember a few seasons ago when jazz would never wear a bra and mommy dearest was not impressed.
I suppose I rely too heavily on the belief that people will have some common sense. I believe you when you say no costume designer is listed on IMDB. I've also worked in and around film long enough to know there is no chance anyone in any film production is ever going to be allowed free rein over hair, make-up and wardrobe.
I finally gor to the end of the episode to see the sparkly cyan dress he is wearing. It looks horrible on him!! My friend's 3 year old daughter has a similar dress, it looks cute on her!!!
I always wonder the same thing. I was very plus sized in the 90's and we really didn't have much, basically Lane Bryant and Romans. Now they have way more choices than we did. Tons of stores carry plus sizes with their usual brands and the speciality stores have really added options.
Jazz is dressing in mermaid. He's been doing it from the start. Jeanette loved the idea that young jazz was drawn to mermaids because of their lack of genitalia. She really ran with the idea in early seasons and had Jazz swimming with them and making his own mermaid (merman?) tail.
Omg YASH is such a creep!!! But, who else would be attracted to Jazz? His face looks like a little boy. It's a valid life choice to be celibate and single. The pressure to date males is dangerous for women and also men who pretend to be women.
It is, I've chosen it since my partner died (aided by antidepressants and illness that completely took any libido I used to have) but it is a decision best made after experiencing the alternative which Jazz will never be able to do as it has been stolen from him, he will always be longing for that which he can never experience because people keep telling him he has to do it. I know there is the saying what you never have, you never miss but it doesn't really apply when you are surrounded by people telling you how 'great' it all is.
Sorry for your loss too, I have two cats and two dogs at the moment although one of my dogs is quite elderly (the others are about the same age as I got them at the same time from the same rehoming centre, the cats who are brothers are about 5 months older than the younger dog, she was an impulse rehoming when I went there to look for another cat after a previous one was lost to cancer but I love her (and the others obviously!) even though she is a total loon!). :)
Ex, you should make educational videos for young women about dating. Personally I think it is in women's best interest to not date males, but since many are going to do it anyway, your advice is very helpful and could save lives. Consider a side channel for dating advice. It would be mich better than mine, which is simply "don't"
LOL ceiling, after my husband died, I've been perfectly happy with just me and my spaniel, Mr. Spots. And as a gay fellow, I agree, dating males is a crapshoot!
Perhaps that means different things to different people? I don't think it is used much in the UK but who knows?! I can't remember, did he not use the word date when asking on the video call?
i think a lot of younger people dont want to call dating really dating. they're scared of acknowledging what they're doing. hanging back. 'hang out' sounds emotionally safer, more self protective to the boy. each of them can pretend they're not really flirting.
Diana, since this is propaganda in its best form, they’re trying to normalize this trans bs. What better way to do that then to get a “straight “ guy to kiss a “trans woman “? I’m guessing that Yash was the best they could do?!
THANKS! I needed Exulansic, and now you, to make this explicit. It's so crazy. To me, Jazz looks totally feminine and beautiful. The problem is his weight and his health. Also his personality is so compliant and childish. He really needs protective people around him because he is fair game for sexual predators (one of whom is clearly his mother). I'm glad he had the balls (even though he doesn't really have them except metaphorically) to turn down the first date's kiss.
Don't you think the producers are paying for these dates? Would you kiss Jazz for $10,000? I would, even though I'm cis female.
Of course I would but I’m a 60 year old woman who has been married for 34 years and has 4 children and 1 grandson. I say all this because having gone through LIFE ( with all its hills and valleys) 1 kiss is absolutely nothing! And who among us couldn’t use 10k?
I think Yash is also quite physically attractive. What's weird is that Jazz doesn't seem to pay attention to his appearance. She is focused on whether he is attracted to her--rather than on whether he has characteristics that she would find appealing in a relationship. Question: How did you get my number? What are your favorite activities? What books have you read recently? What is your favorite school subject? Let's quickly see if there is any possible connection. (What I would do.)
Because Jazz is being disingenuous. I thought he was cute but Jazz really LIKED HIS LOOKS- that’s why he wanted that kiss and spent days pining for him! I know that we’re all being Monday morning Quarterbacks but again TLC is selling a lie along with the Jennings family.
One meaning of disingenuous (via google) is faux-naive. Because of how closely Jazz gets supervised by her family, she has to be very skilled at towing the party line and hiding any dissent. But do you really think he's knowledgeable about matters of sex? Sorry my pronouns are all over the place. I think Jazz is incredibly sensitive to how he appears on social media. But he also clueless about sexual desire and his danger as an attractive female (his danger as a wealthy innocent child). He is totally protected by chaperones, the producers, his relatives and friends. In effect he lives in a gated community. He's not trying to check the credentials of any of his dates. He's assuming he's free to say "no" without encountering any force or dissent in return. Maybe Jazz is totally honest. But, from your comments, I believe the producers are faux-naive. Trans folks are just the same as cis gendered males and females. Once the trans fairy transitions them, they are real females real males and should be treated and accepted as such by their communities and all citizens.
I don’t believe in this religion. I’m not “cis” anything- I’m a woman and Jazz is a man. Because this entire production on TLC is about telling a BIG LIE to vulnerable people. Why should I believe anything this show is selling at the expense of children and women?
As usual, I’m taking my first break 8 minutes in- I can’t get through any of these episodes in 1 sitting. My dislike for this family, especially Jeanette makes this extremely hard! I will say that being 22 was wonderful and my libido made it even better!
Actually, the most honest line comes when Jazz says, “I wouldn’t be who I am today without my mom.” He means it as a compliment but it is not. Or perhaps he doesn’t. A Freudian slip, as it were.
Agree. When he says to Jeanette and her drinking friend that the world would be a lot different if people didn't define each other by what's between people's legs, and in the same convo points out that he used to have a penis... felt deliberate to me. I think he absolutely realises what was done to him and by whom, even if he has to repress that most of the time.
He showed some of that when they went to see him at Harvard, he was with friends on the sports field and there was a little flash of spirit then which I think means that the further away he is from Jeanette, the more chance there is of some sort of future for him.

I don't know if they're agog as much as they're like "why are we even here if Jazz is only talking to her trans friends...who we have NOTHING in common with. This is 4 hours of my life I'll never get back..."
I'm not going to watch it again but they look pretty mesmerized to me and no matter what, they're teenagers and it is cool to be on TV.
They're in the pool, in floaties, positioned like an audience. I think we are supposed to take in the scene in such a way that we feel the trans kids are imparting wisdom to their "cis" friends just by being there talking about their ordinary life.
Anyway, it certainly looks like a freak show to me and they look like an audience.
I agree, they don't look mesmerized, they look like they have nothing in common with these three boys and don't know what they're even there for aside from as 'validation'. Three young men talking about how they are going to get breast implants and do sex work in order to be women must be horrifying to two young women, who know that being a woman is not defined by your boobs and nudes.
I think that’s because in their hearts (do they have those?) they both know that they WOULD NEVER have dated a trans person!
It IS a weird conversation to have with your parents, and this totally dysfunctional family if full of this hyper-sexualized evil. I kept thinking too, what is it like to have your first (?) date (?) filmed, and your possible first (?) romantic (?) kiss filmed, then to have to go to your parents and tell them all about it -- while being filmed?! teen sex and flirting is about having a truly private experience. this is the antithesis.

A whole rally to hype suicide threats, because this is a cult
100%
I’m throughly disgusted.
Jazz's mom is so vile and evil
Why do they always dress him in unflattering, shiny clothes? It's very cruel.
Plus size doesnt have as many cute clothes as other sizes
It doesn't but there are still more flattering colours and less shiny materials. It's like they go out of their way to choose the worst things for him.
My late Mother said of people like that that their taste was all in their mouths. Kinda goes along with Mommie Dearest's friend talking about Jazz "slutting it up." W.T.F.

I have several plus-size cousins who manage to dress very attractively. I don't know what was worse, the retro-hippie look or the sparkly blue dress.
The blue dress
he's already going through so much...do we really need to rip into this barely-adult person's taste? He's figuring out what he likes. This just seems excessive and cruel. Also, why do they identify with mermaids? Mermaids' legs are fused. Mermaid physiology is pretty horrific when you think about it.
I finally gor to the end of the episode to see the sparkly cyan dress he is wearing. It looks horrible on him!! My friend's 3 year old daughter has a similar dress, it looks cute on her!!!
I feel sad for him too. There's nothing right he can do
That's because you're not looking at a normal adult when you're looking at Jazz and his behavior :/
If you can do it, I can too! I’m going back in to finish it- wish me luck!🤞
It's a three-year-old's "princess" dress in an adult size.
You nailed it.
You can put butterfly wings on a hippo but it's still a hippo. Cruel, I know.
And you can remove the penis from a boy, but hes still a boy
I always wonder the same thing. I was very plus sized in the 90's and we really didn't have much, basically Lane Bryant and Romans. Now they have way more choices than we did. Tons of stores carry plus sizes with their usual brands and the speciality stores have really added options.

Omg me too!!! I actually had 2 partners pass away, im sorry for your loss, it really sucks.
Thank you, it does sometimes but I think pets keep you on track!
I agree!! I love my cat, she is the best
Thank you for your condolences. You sound very busy!!! My one kitty is all the pets I can handle.

Jazz, Yash did not ask you out on a date, he asked you to "hang out".
Perhaps that means different things to different people? I don't think it is used much in the UK but who knows?! I can't remember, did he not use the word date when asking on the video call?

Jeanette your vile and delusional. Your advocating for sterilization of children. Too bad you did not sterilize yourself. Opportunity lost.
👏👏👏
Does Yash look upsettingly like Sander to anyone else?
I was thinking this could be what Jazz would've looked like naturally, if he'd only been allowed to.
How heartbreaking. I think you are spot on.
How did Yash get chosen? Did the producers decide Jazz needs a second date after Jazz rejected her earlier date's kiss?
Diana, since this is propaganda in its best form, they’re trying to normalize this trans bs. What better way to do that then to get a “straight “ guy to kiss a “trans woman “? I’m guessing that Yash was the best they could do?!

MeToo
At 40 min in, the most honest line in the show. "Hi guys", said to Jazz and his other male friends
Actually, the most honest line comes when Jazz says, “I wouldn’t be who I am today without my mom.” He means it as a compliment but it is not. Or perhaps he doesn’t. A Freudian slip, as it were.
I think he knows what hes saying. Hes crying for help
Hmmm. Perhaps jazz is tentatively being passive-aggressive? Showing a little spirit?
I think he is! I think you can see anger when he says "I used to have [a penis]."
He showed some of that when they went to see him at Harvard, he was with friends on the sports field and there was a little flash of spirit then which I think means that the further away he is from Jeanette, the more chance there is of some sort of future for him.
thank god he can say the word, own the thing, and own that he lost it. he may be getting closer to something breaking through.
What's sad is that someday Jazz is going to realize that people were more interested in grifting off the I Am Jazz participation. Mom does a great job of sabotaging the confidence of her youngest child. She could have spared her kids a lot of nonsense by getting a dog to dress up in cute tutus and sweaters.
I hate it when people dress their dogs in versions of human clothes but you are right, at least the dog (probably) has no awareness of how they are being paraded for amusement as long as they get positive attention and treats!
Actually, dogs love it. hehehe
Dogs will do anything for positive attention, unlike cats who just look at you with contempt and turn their backs or wander off with their tails in the air!
🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Yes, Jeanette dressing up a dog in cute outfits would have solved the whole issue!!
NC, there’s nothing that woman could have done that would have been more lucrative! That cross- eyed beast is famous and has millions of people applauding her “courage and commitment to trans blah, blah, blah “
And Jazz would have benefited from Mom having a job/ career away from the house and him.
Misery loves company, which is why Jeanette wants to help other 'trans' kids. She knows what she has done to her son and to assuage her guilt, she wants to render 'transitioning' as 'normal' and prevalent as possible, because when everyone's doing it, it can't be wrong, can it? Jeanette is heading for a very traumatic old age.
Just like Susie Green then. (I find it a little weird that an adult woman calls herself 'Susie'!).
The more I watch this, the more it seems inevitable to me that it won't end well for Jazz.
That thought has occurred to me as well.
Not at all.
But the show has to show a happy ending--doesn't it?
Jazz's trans friends are toxic AF. Meanwhile Jazz's actual female friends are just agog, watching some kind of celebrity freak show. Since Jazz is the star of this show and the moneymaker, I feel like this is just a way of feeding poison to young women and to young men who might not fit the masculine stereotype.
Never in my life did I think I would find myself siding with Ron De Santis, the guy is odious in every way. But I understand why Republicans would try to just get rid of all this. It's not my religion, so it's not my place to criticize it, but this is missionary work at its ugliest.
