God they corner this dude while he’s clearly busy working on his car, force this topic on him in the most ham-handed way possible and then get hostile that he’s not thinking in regurgitated platitudes and pseudoscience. You can tell this dude barely knows the twins and this is all set up by producers to force this garbage scene. The narcissism of this whole ideology.

You’re not even allowed to not give a shit about these people. They or their minions will find you and make you affirm them.

Personally (and maybe this is more of a UK/European perspective) the current culture 'wars' don't strike me as 'left wing' at all. The US has a very different notion of what is left wing . Trump is a direct descendent of the Woodstock hippies in that the self-actualisation principle, turning your back on consensus in favour of a highly individualistic notion of destiny, are all part of the same American dream ; you know, the one you have to be asleep to believe in. The UK communist party has recently come out against gender self-id, not surprising as the notion of women as a class, uniquely oppressed on the basis of their sex class, is far more of a 'left wing' position than the liberal posturings of bourgeois students and their ilk whose idea of being radical is to stamp out any questioning of their inherently contradictory beliefs. There was much to recommend the original texts from which gender studies sprang but those OG French postmodernists breaking down the binary and with their idea that there is 'nothing outside the text' could never have predicted that their ideas would become so twisted out of shape in the service of Big Pharma, narcissism, and wholesale misogyny, even though some of us saw the writing on the wall.

You absolutely have a UK perspective. The American left is the most culturally individualistic party, with all social programs intended to keep poor citizens beholden to the government so they will continue voting D, which is why they’re always at risk for losing funding or disappearing (Roe V Wade for example). The right, on the other hand, has the mistaken idea that everyone will have family and community support, such as from a church, so government programs are thought to be unnecessary and a waste of money because some people play the system. This community/family support is why they’re so comfortable with outlawing abortion (at the citizen level), they assume a supportive family network where both grandmas (who are homemakers) will make it work with the young mom, and if need be food and other essentials can be acquired from church.

Sadly the mainstream 'left' such as the Labour party is becoming more in favour of the kind of community 'self-reliance' you describe. It's all about rolling back public spending as you so clearly illustrate, with the assumption that charities or the family will pick up the bill. There's little to choose between the two main parties. We had our own Bernie Sanders moment with Jeremy Corbyn but the press destroyed him and even within Labour there were those who preferred to lose an election rather than allow a socialist in power. Rolling back the state, self-reliance, tax breaks for the rich, all neoliberalism at it's finest, although I'm told we are meant to be 'post-neoliberal' now. Whatever that means!

I must be in a foul mood, because everything I want to say is so beyond the pale, incredibly cruel and unkind to every member of this family. But I do adore and appreciate Ex, so my heart can't be that charred and bitter. Maybe I just need to get me arse to bed. Good night friends lol

I wish Jazz would watch this , or is the poor soul too traumatised and brainwashed by the parents who are lacking in compassion soft wear. Great commentary from Ex. who is always able to explain this family's very sordid agenda with intelligence and much needed compassion.

Holy shit! They are all the real bullies. They have conditioned Jazz to think that everyone else is the threat so he can't see that he's actually being bullied by the same people who he thinks have his best interests at heart. I also feel bad for their buddy who got smashed into oblivion by their ideology when all he wanted to do was work on his car

she went for a phd in psychology (??, still working on it afaik) and sensibly seems to stay away from her dysfunctional family's reality TV show

I think she started to distance herself from the fam in later episodes/seasons when Jeanette&Co began talking about how Ari would be a surrogate for Jazz so he could have children despite his mom getting him neutered. But that’s just what I remember reading in web forum discussions about the show some years back; we’ll see what went down as Ex does further commentary vids on these earlier episodes.

I harbor a secret hope that Ari is planning a rescue mission and will somehow swoop in and free Jazz and get him to some sort of safe house where Jeanette and the TLC vultures can’t reach him.

I think a rescue mission would be best for Jazz, to preserve what hope is left for improved quality of his life.
