Oh instantly recognisable as you! I was reading at the same age. Early early. Voracious. Precocious in the real sense. No diagnosis tho. Just “odd child” back in the early 1970’s. Still, I am what I am. Still odd. Not a problem. X
hyperlexic... that's what my son was. I'm too tired to type it out now, but he put together a sentence of nearly 15 words that was grammatically correct when he was just age 2 + 4 months...
oops, I'm mistaken... my son was loquacious but actually reading books was difficult for him for quite some time. I don't know if he had some degree of dyslexia... I know he had a "lazy eye". I had to put a finger at each end of a word to bracket it for him to read it. He didn't read the books so much as memorize the texts from my reading and recite it back.
Chicka chicka boom boom
will there be enough room way at the top of the coconut tree?
How adorable! My son was reading at 3 and this video reminds me of him. I don’t know why people try to be hurtful, insulting and sarcastic. Just know there are many of us who appreciate your work.
Omg not only is this so adorable but I’m so thankful you shared this. My daughter started reading around that age. It started when she was barely 2 when we were in a store shopping for vitamins. She pulls her thumb out of her mouth, points to the bottles on the shelf and says “2 pack”. She memorized the Velveteen Rabbit by age 3 and started reading chapter books at age 4-5. The only difference is she had a slight lisp up until she was around 8. Scored at college level reading and writing by age 11 (according to the CAT 5 test, if that’s a valid measure). She’s 15 now, whispers monologues out loud to herself constantly, and skips/jumps in her room. I wasn’t sure if she was autistic but now that’s she’s older I am starting to think she is on the spectrum.
My grandmother, a retired school teacher, taught me to read before kindergarten and Green Eggs and Ham was one of the titles she used. It’s been decades since last I heard that story so this video reanimated memories and feels. Thank you for sharing. *afflicted by a deep and belabored sigh*
