Casey Goonan, the Armed Male Vandal from WDI 2023 Conference, Arrested for UC Berkeley Arson

I am just not sure how this gets us closer to freeing Palestine, Casey.

Last year at Women’s Declaration International, I was in the women’s room preparing to give a talk about radical feminism and language, when I was ushered out and into the presentation room, so that the doors could be locked. The reason was that the protestors outside had managed to scale the perimeter and were attempting to get inside. They were armed with hammers and who knew what else. I react to the first news of the events outside my talk in the first portion of the linked video. You can see for yourself the dangerous ideas that Mr. Goonan felt were so unacceptable he had to grab one of the master’s tools and attempt to dismantle the master’s house.

Casey Goonan was arrested approximately 15 minutes before my talk began, for attacking the Hilton sign with a hammer and then resisting arrest, resulting in injuries to multiple police officers. Chad the Hilton hotel manager - yes, that’s reportedly actually his name - heroically put a stop to his flight, allowing a gaggle of officers to catch up to Casey and tackle him to a loud chorus of “SHAME! SHAME!” from the twerking TRA onlookers. Here’s 4K video of the scene.

Casey has a doctorate in African American Studies from Northwestern University, a school I nearly attended, with quite the price tag. His focus placed special emphasis on incarceration.

Since graduating, in addition to attacking hotels for housing women who speak freely without his express written permission, Casey has become active in the Free Palestine movement. He has been arrested yet again, this time for arson of a UC Berkeley police vehicle. Because yes, he’s still local to me.
