She's great. My biologist husband always asks me to summarize her takes for him bc he follows the discussion of the high profile cases on twitter. Some aspects of her observations he was able to predict based on his training, but there is nearly always some angle he did not think of, and sometimes he can then expand on how it would work.
Very timely comment. I just tuned into "The Assignment" on Cinemax. And I quote: "A macho hit man is abducted and given unwanted male-to-female gender-confirmation surgery by a deranged doctor." Looks pretty tacky, but art does imitate life, no?
Just checked to be sure it's available on a streaming service to which I already subscrbe. Not drunk enough to start watching just yet but sincere thanks for the rec
Format is a rip-off of "Natural Born Killers" with Woody Harrelson, Juliette Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Downey and Rodney Dangerfield. Score rips off riffs from series "The Knick." It's awful in a hypnotic kind of way.
Any obese patient is a surgical and anesthesia risk. There is a frighteningly cavalier attitude towards these dangerous and elective procedures. It’s all experimental and not evidence based. These providers should lose their license to practice.
Re: bc/plan B, not even if you're not obese. It's a weight limit, sometimes BMI, but not body fat % limit. I'm not obese at 150, by body fat % I have til about 175/180 with my usual lean tissue mass and I'm hovering the lower range of healthy fat mass at 150. So if you're tall and over 150, you might still be screwed. If you're athletic and have a low body fat mass but weigh a lot you might be screwed. They don't even fucking know because they haven't tested it.
Surely there's a governing body that oversees the competence of surgeons in the USA? Even if you can't sue them it must be possible to have them struck off like we can in the UK. Don't they need to be licensed to practice?
You would not believe what surgeons get away with in the U.S. They are basically given carte blanche and never suffer consequences. Doctors here CANNOT police themselves and the medical boards are stocked with Fauci acolytes and idiots.
I learn something new every time Exulansic posts.

Best scifi body horror of all time

Cool, will add it to my reasons for not having Cinemax LOL https://thedistance.substack.com/p/the-secret-agenda-of-mesmers-bauble
You a funny guy. Poor Sigourney Weaver must have been hard up for cash.

I wonder when they get the parts repo'ed/recalled.
MISS PORNDOLL: Listen! I can't give it to you now. It says, 'in the event of death'. Uh. Oh! Ah. Ah. Eh.
REPO MAN: No one who has ever had their gender taken out by us has survived.

Bloody hell. Thank you for documenting all this for us not on Twitter. This is more nightmarish than I realised

If you are obese even if the the anesthesia keeps you under your lungs may collapse during surgery, higher risk of infection also

Sounds horrendous. UK health care isn't perfect, but we at least have some control over standards.
