My son is 45xO/46XY. Mosaicism. Considered intersex. Slight build, height achieved (no interventions ever is a 5’6” he’s satisfied with and can weight lift and be fit are only signs, other than high functioning autism. Male anatomy (no hypospadia) at birth at 36 weeks gestation. He’s 22 now. We had neonatal testing and follow up geneticists visits every other year. Normal growth and development delays were due to autism and he was male identifying. Puberty was male and then normal hell of the essential pubertal period of life. I was asked absurd questions about feminization at puberty if he had a “feminine identity puberty”, no one knows what cells were weird and X only, by one doctor. Now grown, he’s definitely a man.. He is possibly with reduced fertility but no less a male. the worst classic male androgenic acne at 22 I’ve seen. He’s on Accutane even.

Not all intersex conditions are equal and as a parent- you keep records, I kept his amnio results still and years of paperwork- and as a patient- you need records if something occurs related to sex and DRS and it will only be an issue if he has infertility issues but he has no interest in having children but does date women and uses birth control for all the reasons.

It’s probably my own naïveté, but I’m surprised these professional activists are still claiming DSDs and invoking intersex status. That seems so … 2015 Tumblr.

That caricature is shocking. Why even commission it? That decision is not the product of a balanced mind.
