Gendered Offenders/ Dead Names Update on Nex Benedict and James Everette Hughes/Tsang
James Everette Hughes, who abused Nex when she was 9, discovers his true authentic self while incarcerated.
Correction: originally I thought the most recent incarceration was in Los Angeles, but it appears that was the address he said he was living at when he was re-incarcerated in Arkansas. He was in an Arkansas prison both times but claims to have an address in Los Angeles.

BACKGROUND ON THIS CASE
On February 8, 2024, Dagny “Nex” Benedict ingested a lethal dose of benadryl and prozac, resulting in her death. I've covered the grandma’s 911 call and the body cam footage, as this quickly became a national story due to starting a fight with her classmates the day prior, which she lost. She slipped on water she intentionally filled up and brought into the bathroom to squirt on these other girls, and in the resulting scuffle, she slipped on the wet floor and hit her head, sustaining a mild concussion.
The trans community tried to say she'd been beaten to death by peers in a bathroom because of transphobia, but the truth was that they were defending themselves and left as soon as she'd incapacitated herself.
Dagny/Nex, meanwhile, had emotionally struggled every day since her father (trigger warning at that link) had sexually abused her. She had also never had proper moral education due to the moral turpitude of her caregivers, including the grandma, who was not playing with a full deck. Dagny had also just been told that she could now be sent to prison potentially for assaulting her classmates, and was also facing a two-week suspension. Her medication was left accessible in quantity. Then, when she began to die in front of her grandmother, who claimed to have nursing experience, her grandma failed to perform CPR because she confused agonal with life sustaining breathing. Dagny’s suicide note did not mention the fight at school as a reason, reportedly, as it was not published.
UPDATE ON HER FATHER
The father who was convicted and incarcerated for sodomizing Dagny at just 9 years old was named James Everette Hughes. He was incarcerated for this in 2019, though it appears the crime happened in 2017.
He was released in January 2024 into society instead of a woodchipper for some reason, a few weeks before Dagny’s suicide. Her father continued to crime, though. He was promptly re-arrested due to failing to comply with sex offender registry requirements, and was also arrested after her death. Here is his mug shot from his incarceration summer 2024.
Three days after this mug shot was taken, the rapist was admitted to the psych ward for stabilization. Perhaps this is when he finally confessed that his gender identity is Asian?
Last summer, in the photo, he was beginning to grow his hair out. His facial fat distribution is starting to change slightly. Fast forward to May of this year. He's changed his name to Mx. Tsang and [correction: was listed as living in] in Los Angeles, now with flowing locks and make-up, unmistakeably hormone-replaced.
It appears he's either wearing colored contacts in his booking photo or has obtained plastic surgery to tattoo his irises a different color, so further distance himself from his history and identity. I can't think of any better reason he would do this other than wanting to disguise himself in order to gain access to rape more children without anyone realizing he is a registered sex offender. The first rule of being in child-rapist club is that you do not talk about being a child rapist. His face, his name, and his sex tell the world, so he had to change them.
He is documented as having been released in June 2025 to ride into the sunset to rape more children. However, I have a nagging suspicion he was possibly rendered invisible by being given another name, reclassified as female and placed into a gender-affirming women's prison in California - likely to “protect” and “affirm” him. This is the same LA county that put that child rapist in the juvenile girl’s prison to affirm his autopedophilic gender, because he was a minor at the time he abused a much younger minor girl. So do not put it past LA County Prison System to have imported this male child rapist and reclassified him as a teenage girl to give him access to his preferred victim class, if indeed he's moved back out here since his release from Sebastian County Corrections earlier this year. It would NOT be the first time.
If anyone has any additional information on this story, including any current carceral home of Mx. Tsang - who would never be like those awful child abusing cis men, I'm told - please DM me. My tipster for this story, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that it seems his earlier mugshots are being memory-holed. I can't seem to find any from before 2024 even though he was incarcerated before that.

Offenders like him should never be allowed to change their names or appearances. Also so totally naive for any law enforcement or judicial agencies to fall for the "I'm really a woman and always was" BS from these types.
