Apegate refers to the dust-up that recently occurred on X with IIRC some youtube commentary. It began when a non-GC woman named Jessica Ann Pin @ mediclit, who is a clitoris educator who has taught me a lot and whose work is very important, asked GC women whether we’d met any trans identifying men (aka “trans women,”), whether they passed, and if they passed, how could we still say they are men?

This was my response (highlighting added by haters).

I constructed an analogy with monophyletic (one category) evolutionary biology - basically, an interpretation of the nested tree of life (the “phylogenetic tree”) that says that offshoots of the original population that evolve into distinct species are still within the original family. In other words, a child is still the child of their great great great ^100th power grandfather. At no point does a descendant stop being descended from their ancestors, even if they no longer share even a single gene in common with a given ancestor, whether through mutation or genetic drift.
